LGBT activist Konakov is brutally beaten in St. Petersburg

In St. Petersburg, HIV-positive LGBT activist Boris Konakov is brutally beaten. He himself reported this on Facebook.

"The attack occurred after I was not allowed into a gay club. I don’t remember the details. Since they did not stole anything, I classify it as a homophobic attack. The operation will be after the holidays. Perhaps expensive titanium plates will be required," the Konakov account said in the report. When exactly the attack occurred, he did not specify.

According to the acquaintance of Konakova, Alla Pitsunda, the activist was hospitalized in the neurosurgery department of the Alexander Hospital of St. Petersburg. He was diagnosed with a fracture of the maxillofacial bones. Konakov came to his senses on Monday morning, he "does not remember anything," she added.

The activist was brought to the hospital by an ambulance on Monday night, wrote another acquaintance under the pseudonym Ran Yuren. According to her, Konakov was beaten the same night.

Konakov is known in St. Petersburg with his performances: on April 21, he portrayed the “treatment” of a hawthorn and bark of oak, commoditating the statement of the State Duma deputy Peter Tolstoy, and in November last year he drank a cocktail of vodka and his own blood - this action was directed against the silence of the problems of LGBT and HIV -positive people.

On April 2, 2017, the activist chained himself with the bridge Akhmat Kadyrov, protesting against gay torture in Chechnya. June 1, on the day of protection of children, he recorded a video message to the children of the State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov.
