The court in Iran banned Telegram

In Iran, a court decision is prohibited from using Telegram, reports Reuters with reference to Iranian state television.

"Given the numerous complaints of Telegram by citizens and based on the requirements of security services to combat illegal activities in Telegram, the judicial authorities banned its use in Iran," Iranian television reported.

Iranian authorities plan to block Telegram so that users can not bypass the ban on VPN, the Iranian agency FARS reported.

In April, the media reported that the country's authorities have banned the use of Telegram to officials, forcing them to go to local development messenger. Telegram in Iran is widely used by politicians and state media. Earlier, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had his own channel in the messenger.

In total, Telegram is used by about 40 million Iranians - about half of the country's population.

Earlier, the Iranian authorities have already blocked Telegram several times for a while. The last time access to the messenger in the country was limited during protests in December-January. In mid -January, after the end of street performances, the ban was lifted.

In September last year, it became known that in Iran, a criminal case was openly open against the creator of the messenger Pavel Durov. The country's authorities accused him of using the Messenger are used by supporters of the Islamic State, drug sellers and child pornography distributors.

Telegram is prohibited in Russia, China and Saudi Arabia. In the past, the messenger was temporarily blocked in Afghanistan and Indonesia.
