The protesters in Yerevan stopped blocking the streets and highways that had been blocked since the morning of May 2, and headed for Republic Square, where another rally will begin in the evening.

Opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan called for the release of the streets for traffic. He also called everyone to the rally, which will begin at 19:00 local time (18:00 Moscow time).

Railway traffic in Armenia has not yet been restored. According to the Interfax news agency, the press service of the South Caucasus Railway has warned that all freight and passenger traffic has been temporarily suspended, as it is impossible to guarantee the safety of cargo and passengers, as well as demonstrators blocking the tracks.

Armenian opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan on May 1 called for a general strike and civil disobedience. He spoke after the Armenian parliament refused to elect him to the post of prime minister. Pashinyan was the only candidate. The Republican Party, which holds the majority of seats in parliament, did not support him.
A new vote on the candidacy of the Prime Minister of Armenia is scheduled for May 8. If the head of government fails to be elected again, the parliament will be dissolved, snap elections will be announced in the country.
Protest actions continue in Armenia for more than two weeks. Their participants achieved the resignation of the former president of the country, Serzh Sargsyan, who was elected to the post of prime minister.
