In Germany, the construction of the Northern Stream - 2 began

In the German city of Lubmin, the land of Meklenburg -Pomerania, the construction of the Northern Stream -2 gas pipeline has begun. It is reported by Deutsche Welle.

There is a construction of a ground docking point of the gas pipeline. On an area of ​​about 6 hectares, they dig a pit for the foundations of the gas reception station and the maintenance building.

In the company Nord Stream - a subsidiary of Gazprom, the gas pipeline operator - noticed that the work is underway in accordance with the accepted schedule.

Meanwhile, permits for the construction of the Northern Stream - 2 of the five countries, according to which it should go through the waters, as long as Germany and Finland were given. In Sweden, Denmark, as well as in Russia, the necessary documents have not yet been executed. In addition, the permission issued by the German authorities is disputed in court by the Union of Nature Protection of Germany (Nabu) and the trial has not yet been completed.

However, Nord Stream expressed confidence that there would be no problems with the documents. So, in Denmark, the representative of the Gazprom’s daughter noted the gas pipeline section is supposed to be laid in parallel with the current thread of the first “northern stream” in the 12-mile zone south of the island of Bornholm. This thread, indicated in the Nord Stream, was laid there, according to the implicant misery of Denmark, and therefore there is no reason to believe that in Copenhagen they do not agree on the gasket in the same corridor and the Nord Stream -2 highway. However, the representative of the Nord Stream added, in the event of complications, alternative routes are also being developed bypassing Denmark.

"Northern Stream - 2" is supposed to be launched by the end of 2019. It is expected that about 55 billion cubic meters of gas will enter Germany annually.

Meanwhile, Ukraine and a number of Eastern European EU members are opposed to the construction of the gas pipeline. In Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, they said that the maintenance of gas transit through Ukraine was necessary to ensure not only energy security, but also political stability in the region.

In December 2015, the chairman of the European Council Donald Tusk said that the Northern Stream - 2 project contradicts the law of the European Union . The EU laws, Tusk explained, provide for a reduction in energy dependence and diversification of energy supplies, as well as the compliance of all new projects with the requirements of the third energy package. Meanwhile, the European Commission indicated that after the construction of the Northern Stream - 2 80 percent of Russian gas will go along a single route, and Gazprom will receive control immediately over 60 percent of the German gas market.
