US President Donald Trump has said he has returned money to his lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid to porn actress Stormy Daniels (Stephanie Clifford) for keeping quiet about her alleged intimate relationship with Trump.

Trump said that Daniels was paid to stop "false and blackmailing allegations" and that such agreements are "very common among famous and rich people."

Previously, Trump returned the money paid to Daniels to Cohen, said his lawyer, former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. The lawyer said that Trump was not aware of the details of the case. Both Giuliani and Trump stressed that the payments had nothing to do with campaign funds, which would be against the law.

In the fall of 2016, Donald Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen paid porn actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about an intimate relationship that, according to the actress, occurred between them in 2006-2007.
Trump vehemently denies having a relationship with Daniels. He denied knowing about the $130,000 payment to her, but admitted in late April that Cohen had represented him in the case.
Stormy Daniels sued Trump and Cohen , demanding that the agreement be declared null and void. She also filed a separate lawsuit against Trump , accusing him of defamation.
In April, the FBI raided the home of Michael Cohen and seized documents related to the payment of money to Stormy Daniels.
