For the repair and modernization of the Russian aircraft carrier, Admiral Kuznetsov, who participated in the operation in Syria, will spend about 60 billion rubles. This was reported by Interfax with reference to a source familiar with the situation. According to him, the terms of reference have already been signed and approved.
During the modernization, the aircraft carrier will receive new air defense systems, as well as new elements of energy equipment. The work is planned to be completed before the end of 2020.
"Admiral Kuznetsov" - the only aircraft carrier in the Russian Navy - was commissioned in early 1991. He can carry dozens of fighter-bomber.
In the fall of 2016, during the passage of the aircraft carrier through the La-Channel along the way from Severomorsk to Syria, observers drew attention to thick black smoke, which came from the pipes of the ship. The Russian authorities rejected the assumptions about problems on board the vessel, but they reported that "Admiral Kuznetsov" would have to be repaired.
