The attack of the Cossacks on a rally on May 5 on Pushkinskaya Square in Moscow shocked the public and became the main in importance episode of protest activity in these two days. It overshadowed the record number of detainees, the usual cruelty of riot police and even unusual detention of children.
Indeed, the appearance of "good fellows", who are nagikes (by the way, cold weapons) and beat youth with fists, is a new word in Russian politics. Its symbolic meaning is difficult to overestimate. The rally “He is not a king”, which mainly students gathered, accelerated, as in the last king, Cossacks, even if they arrived not in the equestrian system, but on their two. So, the revolution is just around the corner.
In social networks, not such a radical point of view is widely represented - they say, these are not real Cossacks, but "mummers", who were "brought". No, dear friends. These are real Cossacks. Generously funded by the Russian state. With difficulty restraining, so as not to shoot you all. There are no others in Russia. Crimea and Donbass proved this.
A familiar musician Alexander Ivanov got a friend of Facebook at this rally in the face. For taking pictures of people in Kubanka. There was a lot of blood. I arrived at the ambulance to the hospital. Diagnosis - a fracture of the bones of the nose. The personality of the one who hit him was established in less than a day.
Dmitry Zaitsev. Born in 1979, a native of Novosibirsk, lives in Yaroslavl. Life and law are seriously not a fright yet, so his profiles in social networks were wide open during the day (now he erased them). Of these, his crystal -pure biography is clear: gopnik, boxer, Airborne Forces, and a policeman for 2009. Apparently, re -certification did not pass, so he further boxed in the Taurus club, and for money he worked in Cossack Chop to protect the Yaroslavl temples. Like almost all such characters, he participated in the occupation of Crimea, in the summer of 2014 he fought in the LDNR. The creators of the Ukrainian site "Peacemaker" drove through their determinant the eleven photographs of other Cossacks who participated in the acceleration of the rally, and found eight of them in their list of participants in Russian armed groups in the country.
Thus, Zaitsev is a kind of example of a modern Russian Cossack. Not an ethnographic wonders, not a citizen of Russia, remembering his ancestors and considering himself a Cossack, but a Cossack who is now a figure of the Russian socio-political space, the personification and beneficiary of the registration of the Cossacks as a social group in the 1990s.
This is a former paratrooper, special forces, a veteran of Chechnya, a policeman or a bandit (or all this together). It is one of the thousands of small Cossack organizations that are biting among themselves, where the “hundred” is five, the “village” is ten, and the “army” is a hundred people, where the “Cossack generals” are completely younger officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where communication with the Ephesians is not exotic, but everyday reality. He receives money from the state, if his organization is included in the state "register" (as in fact a semi-native structure), or is a choke on the contract with the city or district authorities, or, at worst, won the competition for military-patriotic education-the education of younger schoolchildren assembly and disassembled the Kalashnikov assault rifle.
Under the Kubanka of many of these Cossacks, commitment to radical nationalism (not only “Russian”, but also “Cossack”), monstrous xenophobia (openly demonstrated in their blogs), and often criminal ventures are hidden. The fact that some of them are opponents of Putin does not mean at all that these ideas disappear somewhere. They criticize Putin on the right, for inadequate authoritarianism or weak "defense of the Russians", and do not at all expect democratization and westernization from him.
In fact, there are not many such real Cossacks. At the time of the occupation of Crimea, they strained them, a couple of thousand people from all over the southern Russia, where they mainly live. In Moscow, this is not the first attempt to use them at general degrees. However, at a large rally, fifty-hundred Cossacks, ready to risk their physiognomy for the prince-priest, dissolve in the total mass and do not dare to do anything. But in relatively low -haired exhibitions in the Sakharov Center, they are active and really interfere with their holding.
The rally on May 5 was, frankly, very average in terms of the number of participants. This is what causes the activity of cowardly "titles". And the effect of the Cossacks who blossomed the halt turned out to be loud. And crazy. Before the inauguration. Before the World Cup. Under the cameras of all kinds of press. On the first stripes of all world publications. On May 7, they will not have a photo of Putin in the Andreevsky Hall. There will be pictures of people with nagikes who beat students against the backdrop of the monument to Pushkin.
But this is not even the main thing. The reaction of those who beat, as well as their relatives, friends and acquaintances is more important. I have not seen so many direct threats and promises of revenge on social networks for a long time. Such a mass campaign to establish the individuals of the presumptuous militants. Will they beat them in the porches? Will the opposition with customs come to the next rally? Don't know. I think it is unlikely. The emotions of the vast majority of politically active citizens in Russia are exhausted three days after the events.
However, we must pay tribute to the courage of people in the administration of the President of Russia and the Moscow City Hall. Launching the Donbass into Russian domestic policy, abundantly financing the preparation of the Cossacks for the dispersal of the demonstration, the authors of this idea of their use somehow completely forgot how the fall of the Yanukovych regime began. Not at all with Euromaidan, and even, probably, not from the beating of students "Berkut". And with a nationwide hatred of the "who came in" in Kyiv and completely "losing the shore" to the "titles". When they began to be tracked and beat all over the city, it became clear that the entire power of Yanukovych is limited only to those quarters that the “Golden Eagle”, which is controlled by the Golden Eagle.
Russian politicians ignored Armenia’s very fresh experience, where the prime minister, who had the vast majority in parliament, was forced to resign after mass protests. And the use of local "titles" did not cool these protests, but spurred. Some experienced supporters of Putin see the risk of a "civil war" in the occurrence on May 5, but while "the ship is floating." How far it will float away - no one knows this on the ship.
