The Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation (HRC) will send a request to law enforcement and other competent authorities with a request to explain why the Cossacks participated in the protection of public order at the protest on May 5. This was reported by Interfax on Monday, May 7, the head of the HRC Mikhail Fedotov.

"I have already said that the presence of Cossacks and nodes [activists of the organization" National Liberation Movement ", NOD] on the shares exacerbated the situation and led to those scenes of violence that took place there. It is important to understand why they were there and who these people were there," Fedotov said.

“Naturally, we are interested in the picture of subbotnik events not only in Moscow, but throughout the country, so the requests will be sent to other regions, including where protest shares were agreed with the local authorities,” the head of the HRC added.
