“In the framework of the Immortal Regiment campaign, more than 2,900 events took place throughout Russia. 10 million 400 thousand people were held in columns with portraits of their relatives,” said Irina Volk, official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In recent years, the processions of the Immortal Regiment have become traditional events on May 9. The scale of events, according to reports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs , increases from year to year: in 2017, 7.8 million people took part in them, in 2016 - 6.2 million.

The action "Immortal Regiment" began as a popular initiative.
