The rallies “He is not a king”, organized by politician Alexei Navalny, took place on May 5 in more than 90 cities of Russia. Protesters expressed disagreement with the fourth term of Vladimir Putin at the presidential post. By the end of the action throughout the country, more than 1,600 people were detained by the police. According to the portal of the ATS-Info, of which 158 people are minors. To date, one criminal case has been opened. Many detainees complain of beatings during detention. Moreover, not only from the police and riot police, but also from “helping” law enforcement agencies - “Cossacks” and representatives of the NOD.
Courts have already begun over the participants in the shares. Law support is provided to them by lawyers of the OTD-info, “Open Russia” and the headquarters of Alexei Navalny.
The largest number of detentions was for the Moscow campaign on Pushkinskaya Square - more than 700 people. In Moscow, during the rigid detentions, riot police used rubber batons, protesters were struck by his legs. People in the clothes of the Cossacks helped the police to disperse the crowd - they either applied the force against the participants of the action or beat them with halves.
Not without an ambulance that came to Pushkinskaya Square during the action. In autozaks, the police also applied force to the detainees, beating them with batons - this was recorded by the photo correspondent of Novaya Gazeta.
Also, journalists and protesters encountered provocations from representatives of the NOD on Pushkinskaya Square, members of the Battle Brotherhood movement and activists of the Young Guard of United Russia. Despite the fact that the chairman of the “Young Guard” Denis Davydov a week before the rally assured the journalists that the activists of the movement would not go to the closest actions of the opposition, they were still present there. As one of the activists of the movement on Pushkinskaya Square told the correspondent of Novaya, from the “Young Guard” there were about 300-400 people.
According to the journalists trade union, 23 journalists were detained while working on the shares.
“We note the growth of violence and aggression addressed to our colleagues by the police: at least 10 cases out of 23 journalists received bodily harm or encountered an aggressive attitude of the police precisely because of their status,” the journalists' trade union said. So, the correspondent of MBH Media Alexander Skrylnikov said that before the blow from the police officer showed him a press card, but then he still received a “bruise of the right half of the chest”. He was delivered to the Sklifosovsky Research Institute, where he found a lung bruise.
On May 6, the courts began over the detainees. Basically, the participants of the action are accused under the articles of the Administrative Code: “Disocity to the legal order of the police officer” (19.3 Code of Administrative Offenses) and “Violation of the established procedure for holding a rally” (20.2 Administrative Code) - this also includes re -violation at the rally. As the “new” editor of the Department of Monitoring of the OTD-Info Grigory Durnovo told, in St. Petersburg, most of the ships passed the day after the rally-the detainees were taken to the court after the night in the department:
“An interesting phenomenon that in Moscow for all the past days there was only one court - the citizen of Ukraine Vladislav Solovye, she was arrested for 10 days. On the same day, people were taken from 10 more departments, but then for some reason they turned back. According to the “criminal” (an article on the application of violence to a representative of the authorities) - so far one case has been recorded, but they could also collect for the holidays. If you recall the action on March 26, 2017, then it was too late for criminal cases. ”
To date, one criminal case is known (under Article 318 of the Criminal Code). Mikhail Tsakunov returned home with his friends after the rally when he noticed a janitor who carried a large inflatable duck (a symbol of protest from Navalny’s action “He is not a dimon”). Young people asked the janitor to take the duck - at that moment they were detained by the police. At the trial, Tsakunov showed traces of the beatings on the body that he received during the detention. At first, a protocol was instructed to violate the procedure for holding the action, but then it turned out that the policeman who detained Tsakunov spoke about the tooth knocked out in his place during the detention. The sanction under the 318th article is a fine of up to 200 thousand rubles or 6 months of arrest.
The organizer of the action “He is not a king” Alexei Navalny will be held on May 11. He is charged with two articles - “Repeated violation of the order of organizations of rallies” and “disobedience to the police officer”. Possible punishment - 30 days of arrest. And on May 10, deputies of the State Duma from United Russia introduced a bill on the introduction of administrative responsibility for involving minors in unauthorized shares. It is assumed that this offense will be punished for another 15 days of arrest.
