The Supreme Court of Crimea rejected the appeal of the defense to extend the house arrest of the defendants in the February 26 Case, Ali Asanov and Mustafa Degermendzhi. This is reported by "Crimea. Realities".
Degermendzhi and Asanov are accused of participating in mass riots on February 26, 2014 in Simferopol (part 2 of article 212 of the Criminal Code).
On May 14, the defendants will make their last statements. The session on the merits of the case will be held in the Central District Court of Simferopol.
During the debate, the prosecutor asked to sentence the five defendants in the February 26 Case to suspended sentences. Ali Asanov and Mustafa Degermendzhi, who are under house arrest, were asked by the prosecution to be given five years of probation with a three-year probationary period. Eskender Kantemirov, Arsen Yunusov and Eskender Emirvaliev, who are at large, received three and a half years of probation with a probationary period also for three years.
