The complainant of the May 5 protest in Perm was fined 250 thousand rubles

The Sverdlovsk District Court of Perm fined Navalny supporter Sergei Ukhov 250 thousand under Part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code (repeated violation of the procedure for holding a public event). The Public Verdict Foundation reports this.

In April, Ukhov twice submitted applications to hold the action “For the right to be a citizen of Russia” on May 5 in Perm in the form of a procession along the central streets of the city. Both times the authorities refused to approve this route, offering alternative options on the outskirts of the city, in parks and even on the beach.

But on May 5, the procession still went according to the plan originally proposed by Ukhov. No one was detained during the protest.

On May 11, the Sverdlovsk court fined Natalya Vavilova, coordinator of Navalny’s Perm headquarters, 200 thousand rubles, also under Part 8 of Art. 20.2 Code of Administrative Offences. Headquarters staff note that Vavilova is raising three minor sons, so the court could not arrest her. The coordinator was detained at the entrance of his own house. When the activist demanded a summons, the police threatened her with physical force.
