In Sergiev Posad, two participants in solo pickets against landfills were detained. They met Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov who arrived in the city. This was reported on the Activatika website with reference to blogger Andrey Trofimov.
The mayor and the governor came to Sergiev Posad to test electric trains near Moscow and check whether it is convenient for summer residents to get from the city to their sites. At the station, officials were met by members of an initiative group of citizens of the Sergiev Posad district, who were protesting against the organization of a solid domestic waste landfill and a garbage plant near the village of Sakharovo. They were holding posters calling on the authorities to abandon these plans.
The activists were able to talk with Sobyanin and Vorobyov, express their position to them and even arrange a meeting with the mayor of Moscow. But two protesters were still detained.
One of the detainees, Shamil Divlyatshin, became ill and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
