© ArtMossphere / FacebookAn open acceptance of applications for participation in the art of the street wave of Artmossfer, which will be held in Moscow from August 17 to October 17, has been announced.
The main project of the Biennale “Artmossfer-2018” will be shown in the large winery of the Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art, special projects will be occupied by the Red Workshop and the White Workshop, as well as the street space of the cultural cluster.
According to the Biennale press service, the theme of the main project- “Offline” -“dictated by fatigue from the growing information flow and the desire to limit the stay on the network due to acute internal necessity”.
Russian and foreign artists are invited to participate in the main project. Portfolio and presentations of the works proposed for implementation as part of the main Biennale project, until June 20 are accepted at info@artmossphere.ru .
The applications will be considered and selected by the international jury, which included curators and artists from the USA, Netherlands, France, Spain, Great Britain and Russia. All works of the main project will be created by participants directly in Moscow in the format of art residence.
“This year, the mechanics of selection of participants in the main project are changing. If in 2016 foreign participants were independently chosen by invited international curators, and only the Russian part of the exhibition was competitive, then this year we make applications completely open. Any artist with experience in street art can send his project to the international jury. The geography of the project remains as wide as possible - we are waiting for applications from participants from around the world, ”says co -founder of Biennale Yulia Vasilenko.
The first two “artmossospheres” were held in 2014 and 2016 as a biennale of street art. Since this year, the “artmossfer” has been changing its positioning on the Biennale of the art of the street wave, thus explained by the organizers of Biennale, “more accurately determining the declared direction and anticipating questions about the irrelevant presentation of street art in the exhibition hall.”
“ Artists of the street wave are artists who entered the field of contemporary art from subcultures, in particular, from graffiti environment, and from other practices of working with urban space. Many of them went through the experience of unauthorized creative activity in the city, bringing characteristic topics, techniques and methods into the exhibition space, and inheriting the specific visuality of the street. In foreign practice, the term Urban Contemporary Art is currently actively used to determine this kind of art. ”
