Oleg Sentsov announced an unlimited hunger strike

Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov, serving a 20-year imprisonment in the Russian colony, announced a hunger strike, which he intends to continue until all Ukrainian political prisoners are released in Russia.

This was reported by Mediazona with reference to the lawyer Dmitry Dinze, who visited Sentsov in the Belarusian Bear colony in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

The hunger strike was announced on May 14, as a condition for its completion in the statement addressed to the head of the colony, Sentsov called the release of 64 Ukrainian political prisoners.

According to the lawyer, Sentsov was preparing in advance for a hunger strike, "he refused grocery gear, from the store in the colony, switched to Balanda and ate a minimum amount of food." After the start of the hunger strike, Sentsov was transferred to a separate chamber, his condition is controlled by the doctor.

In May 2014, Oleg Sentsov was detained by the FSB in Crimea, in August 2015, together with anarchist Alexander Kolchenko, he was found guilty of organizing a terrorist community and convicted by the North Caucasus District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don to 20 years of a strict regime colony.

In March 2016, Sentsov was transferred to a colony in Yakutia, in 2017 they transferred to a penal colony No. 8 in the city of Labytnangi of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, also known as “White Bear”.
