Rosstat spoke about a reduction in poverty in 2017 by 0.1%

In Russia, the number of citizens whose income is below the subsistence level has decreased: in 2017 there were 19.3 million people, which is 0.1% less than in 2016 (19.5 million people). The figures are published on the Rosstat website.

The cost of living, according to the data for the fourth quarter of 2017, is 9786 rubles. In May, by presidential decree, the minimum wage was equated to the subsistence level of the able-bodied population - 11,163 rubles (according to data for the second quarter of 2017).

Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his message to the Federal Assembly, set the task of reducing the level of poverty in the country by at least half in six years.

“Due to the consequences of the economic crisis, poverty has grown again: today 20 million citizens face it,” the head of state said at the time.

Recall that according to data for 2016, 144.3 million people live in Russia.
