"Memorial" will hold a tour "Moscow Karola Ner"

On May 19, the International Memorial organizes the tour “Moscow Karola Ner” dedicated to the places where the actress lived and also worked, as well as German pre -war emigration as a whole.

Karola Never (1900–1942) - a German theater and cinema actress, whose name is often associated with Bertolt Brecht: she was his beloved actress and it was for her that the playwright wrote the role of Polly Pichch in Trinogrosheva Opera. Karola Never was sentenced to 10 years in prison and died in 1942 in Sol-Iletskaya prison.

Karola Never lived in Moscow not much time-in 1933 she first arrived in the USSR, and in the summer of 1936 she was already arrested. By this time, Moscow had become one of the centers of German anti -fascist emigration: writers, actors, musicians, directors lived and worked here, Bertolt Brecht came.

The tour will be held in some places related to the life and work of the actress (such as the club of foreign workers, the Savoy Hotel) and with German pre -war emigration as a whole (Mort, the Central Committee of the MOPR, the German Embassy).

Until June 17, the exhibition “Theater of Life of Karola Ner, was opened in the Memorial. The fate of the German actress who died in the Gulag ” , who is supported by the Goethe-Institute in Moscow.
