1813 Battle of Bautzen

205 years ago, on May 20, 1813, the Battle of Bautzen in Saxony began, which ended the next day with the victory of Napoleon's 115,000-strong army over the combined 96,000-strong Russian-Prussian army led by Peter Wittgenstein. The sides lost about 20 thousand people killed and wounded.

As a result of the defeat at Bautzen, the fighting was transferred to the territory of Prussia, and Wittgenstein was replaced as commander in chief by Michael Barclay de Tolly.
