In Chelyabinsk, the arrested coordinator of Navalny's headquarters went on a hunger strike

In Chelyabinsk, the arrested coordinator of the local headquarters of Alexei Navalny, Boris Zolotarevsky, went on a hunger strike due to poor conditions of detention. Former head of headquarters Alexey Tabalov wrote about this on Facebook.

Zolotarevsky stated that he was not given soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, toilet paper, disposable razors, a washing basin, cleaning equipment, tea, sugar and periodicals. In addition, the activist complained about rotten and sagging mattresses, leaking sinks and showers, and he was also denied replacement bed linen.

Zolotarevsky demands an inspection, elimination of violations and holding the administration of the special detention center accountable. The activist noted that three people had already joined his hunger strike, and the entire first cell had refused to eat. According to Zolotarevsky, they are trying to isolate him from other arrestees in order to prevent them from supporting the statement.

  • The Central District Court of Chelyabinsk arrested Boris Zolotarevsky for 25 days, finding him guilty of repeated violation of the procedure for holding a public event (Part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) due to the “He is not our king” action, which took place on May 5.
