The coordinator of Open Russia in Chuvashia was fined for the fourth time

The magistrate of court district No. 1 of the Leninsky district of Cheboksary fined Dmitry Semenov, coordinator of the regional branch of Open Russia, under article 20.33 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (carrying out the activities of an undesirable organization) for 6 thousand rubles. This is reported by Mediazona with reference to the lawyer of the international human rights group Agora Alexei Glukhov.

According to the prosecutor's office, Semyonov "carried out the activities of an undesirable organization" during a rally in memory of Boris Nemtsov on February 25. This was expressed in the fact that he called on everyone to take part in the “Nemtsov House” action - to stick yellow stickers with the inscription “The memory of Boris Nemtsov lives in this house - a real man and patriot”, take pictures of them and post them on social networks.

• In February 2018, Semyonov was twice fined for 5,000 rubles on charges of collaborating with an undesirable organization. Both times the court considered that the Open Russia movement is the same organization as the Open Russia Civic Movement in the UK, which was recognized as undesirable in Russia.
• In April, the court awarded Semyonov 6,000 rubles fine under the same article of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
• The activist himself said that due to the court decision, he could face criminal prosecution in the future. In addition to the administrative article for carrying out the activities of an undesirable organization, there is also a criminal one (Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code). To attract it, two administrative offenses under Art. 20.33 of the Code of Administrative Offenses within one year.
• On April 26, 2017, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office declared a number of organizations associated with Mikhail Khodorkovsky undesirable. The list includes the UK-registered OR Otkrytaya Rossia and the Open Russia Civic Movement (Open Russia), the Institute of Modern Russia, Inc, registered in the USA .

The Russian movement "Open Russia" was not banned. Nevertheless, in December 2017, Roskomnadzor entered the website of the Open Russia media project into the register of banned sites. Access to the sites "Open Elections", "Open University" and khodorkovsky.ru was closed.
