Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky, reappointed to this post by President Vladimir Putin on May 18, said that his department is on the right track and promised to work "even better." He made this statement after Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets introduced him to the ministry staff, Interfax reports.

Golodets wished the official creative success. She noted that Russia occupies a leading position in the world in the sphere of culture. "This imposes a special responsibility on creative people. I would like to wish you creative success, I would like your creative initiatives to turn into new projects. Creative success to all," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

The minister, in turn, noted that the successes of culture demonstrate the "correctness of the choice of state policy." He thanked the president and the government for their trust and promised not to let them down, RIA Novosti reports.

Medinsky was appointed to the post of Minister of Culture on May 21, 2012. On May 18, the President signed a decree reappointing him to this post in the new government.
