CNBC: Russia failed to test a missile with a nuclear installation

In Russia, from November 2017 to February 2018, four unsuccessful tests of a new cruise missile with a nuclear installation were carried out, CNBC reports with reference to sources familiar with American intelligence reports on the Russian weapons program.

According to the channel, the largest distance that the rocket flew before crashes - 22 miles (about 35.4 kilometers). Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that a new rocket with a nuclear engine has an unlimited radius of action.

“Listen to the President of the Russian Federation Putin and believe him,” Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the material of CNBC.

The reason for the failure of the launches was that during each of them the reaction in the nuclear engine did not begin. Intelligence reports also do not contain any references to the possible harm to the health of radioactive irradiation.

Immediately after taking the rocket, he uses a regular internal combustion engine that works on gasoline, and then should switch to the nuclear.

On March 1, in a message to the Federal Assembly, Putin spoke about the new types of Russian weapons : he also mentioned a rocket with a nuclear engine and the new hypersonic intercontinental missile Avangard, which, according to the head of state, is invulnerable to American pro.

Last week, CNBC announced referring to American intelligence reports that Avanging is planned to be put in service by 2020. According to the channel, the missile has already been successfully tested three times - twice in 2016, the last time in October 2017. The next launch of the Vanguard is scheduled for the summer.
