Gref apologized to Timchenko for the report of the fired analyst

German Gref personally called businessman Gennady Timchenko and apologized for the report released by Sberbank CIB analysts, Timchenko himself told The Bell at a forum in St. Petersburg.

According to him, Gref called the day before and assured the businessman that the analysts who wrote the report had already been fired.
“Personally, I don’t care, I … don’t read this,” added billionaire Timchenko, whom President Vladimir Putin calls a friend.

Context

In early May, Sberbank CIB released a report on Gazprom by analyst Alex Fack and his colleague Anna Kotelnikova. The main message of the report is that the state monopoly is "managed in the interests of its contractors, and not for commercial gain." The largest contractors at Gazprom's construction sites are the companies of Arkady Rotenberg and Gennady Timchenko.
This week it became known about the dismissal , first of Fek, and later of his leader Alexander Kudrin .
Later, the press service of Sberbank distributed Gref's official comment. “The report [on Gazprom] was issued in violation of the company's internal regulations, with gross violations of ethical standards. In fact, its author drew conclusions from unverified, unconfirmed data, thereby misinforming the market. Whether this is irresponsibility or deliberate provocation, I cannot say. However, our standards of professionalism do not allow us to tolerate such unprofessional actions, so Sberbank CIB made a decision to part ways with the author of the report and the persons who allowed the release of the report,” Gref said.
Alex Fak became famous last year after he released a report on Rosneft, one of the chapters of which was called "Let's talk about Igor." The report talked about the inefficiency of the management of the oil company and its aggressive expansion. After the publication, Sberbank CIB had to release a new, softened version.
