Gazprom: the Stockholm Arbitration decision on the dispute with Naftogaz was written not by judges, but by “another person”
The decision of the Stockholm arbitration, which ordered Gazprom to pay $4.6 billion to Naftogaz, was written with the participation of "outsiders," Gazprom said on May 28.
According to the company, this showed "additional study of the text of the decision with the involvement of a world-renowned expert linguist." Which “other person” and for what purpose wrote a “significant part” of the decision, Gazprom did not specify.
Gazprom has filed an application with the Svea District Court of Appeal for the complete annulment of the arbitration decision, Interfax writes.
“The opinion of a linguistic expert on the authorship of the arbitration decision on transit is new evidence of serious violations of Swedish law and the arbitration rules of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce when considering this case, which gives grounds for its complete annulment,” writes Gazprom.
- In February, it was announced that the Stockholm Arbitration Court had awarded Naftogaz $4.6 billion. Taking into account the decision on another dispute, Gazprom had to pay 2.56 billion to the Ukrainian company.
