Stanislav Zimovets, convicted in the March 26 case, went on a hunger strike in support of Oleg Sentsov

Stanislav Zimovets, who was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison in the "March 26 case", announced an indefinite hunger strike in support of Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov, who has been on hunger strike in a Russian colony since May 14. Lawyer Svetlana Sidorkina told about this to Mediazona.

Zimovets began a hunger strike on 28 May. Whether his demands coincide with Sentsov's demands for the release of 64 Ukrainians who are imprisoned in Russia is not specified.

Earlier, Ukrainian military Alexander Shumkov, who was arrested in Russia on charges of participating in the Right Sector (Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code), who was recognized as an extremist organization, also went on a hunger strike in support of the director.

• Oleg Sentsov, sentenced to 20 years in prison on charges of plotting terrorist attacks in Crimea, has been on a hunger strike since May 14. He demands from the Russian authorities the release of 64 Ukrainians whom he considers political prisoners (not to mention his own release).
• Russian President Vladimir Putin has been repeatedly asked to facilitate the release of Sentsov, but he refuses to do so.
• Stanislav Zimovets was convicted of using violence against a National Guard officer at a protest rally on March 26 in Moscow. He did not deny that during the action he threw a piece of brick, but claimed that he did not aim at a representative of the authorities.
