Sergey Vedyashkin / The Moscow News Agency on May 25, a visitor to the Tretyakov Gallery with a metal column of the fence several times hit the picture of Ilya Repin “Ivan the Terrible and his son, Ivan on November 16, 1581” (also known as “Ivan the Terrible kills his son”), tearing the canvas in three places. A criminal case on damage to cultural heritage objects was brought against the attacker. The cost of restoration of the picture suggested taking on Sberbank. The cost of the first stage of restoration work is estimated at 5-10 million rubles. After returning to the exposition of the Tretyakov Gallery, the picture of Repin will be exhibited in an armored glass case.
