Roskomnadzor threatened to disrupt the functioning of the App Store in Russia

Roskomnadzor demanded that Apple stop distributing the Telegram Messenger application hosted in the App Store in Russia, as well as sending its service push notifications to Russian users.

“In order to avoid possible actions by Roskomnadzor to disrupt the functioning of the above services, Apple, Inc. we ask you to inform us as soon as possible about the further actions of the company aimed at solving these problematic issues,” the letter says.

Context

Roskomnadzor blocks Telegram based on the decision of the Tagansky court dated April 13. Attempts by the regulator to block the messenger turned into problems for many Internet resources, including Google, Yandex, Facebook, WhatsApp services. Roskomnadzor has been asking Google and Apple to remove the Telegram app from their app stores since April.
