In turn, Babchenko, standing next to Gritsak, apologized to his wife and relatives for not informing them of his participation in a special operation. Babchenko did not report the details of the special operation itself. He only noted that he became aware of the preparation of the attempt a month ago.

As follows from the words of Gritsak and Babchenko, an order for the murder of a critic of the regime who left Russia received two months ago. Upon learning of this, the SBU decided to organize a secret operation to capture and expose the killer. As a result of a successful special operation, a suspect was detained in preparing an attempt on Babchenko. This is a citizen of Ukraine G., allegedly recruited by the Russian intelligence services: for the murder, he promised a reward to the former participant in the anti -terrorist operation in the Donbass of $ 30 thousand.

As evidence that Moscow was to prepare his murder, Babchenko reported such a detail: information about him received an attempt from Russia, in particular, they had a photograph of his passport and “special services may have such information”.

The preparation of the attempt on Babchenko was only one element in a larger operation of the Russian special services, a representative of the SBU at a briefing said. According to him, the purpose of the operation is the physical destruction of Russian citizens who are forced to leave the territory of the Russian Federation for their political beliefs, to live in Ukraine, and also in the EU countries.

On the evening of May 29, it was reported that journalist Arkady Babchenko was killed at the entrance of his house in Kiev with three shots in the back. This imaginary, as it turned out, the crime caused a great resonance around the world.

The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called the “best news” that Arkady Babchenko was alive. “It would always be so. It is a pity, in other cases, the masquerade did not work. The fact that the propaganda effect was laid down in history is obvious, ”she wrote on her Facebook page.
