The Supreme Court of Tatarstan canceled the fine imposed on Kazan eco-activist Gulnaz Smirnova for reposting about the rally. It is reported by Interfax.
On April 6, the Soviet Court of Kazan fined Smirnova for reposting a record of a rally against the construction of a waste incineration plant in the village of Osipovo, Zelenodolsk district of Tatarstan. Smirnova was accused of violating the rules for holding a public event (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation) and was fined 10,000 rubles.
The rally was supposed to take place on April 7, but was canceled because the village authorities did not agree on its holding. However, on May 22, the Zelenodolsk city court found this decision illegal.
