Solo could be the first Star Wars film to lose money

Box office of the film "Han Solo: Star Wars. Stories" in the second week after the premiere fell in the US and Canada by 65%, according to ComScore data. One of the most famous film franchises in the world for the first time in history may become unprofitable, analysts say.

• Over the past weekend, the Disney story of Han Solo grossed just $29.3 million in the US and Canada, short of the $30 million previously . projected commemorations in the USA.
• The film, which has a budget of roughly $250 million, could cost more than $50 million to filmmakers, Barton Crockett, an analyst at investment bank B. Riley FBR, writes in a research note.
• Crockett predicts worldwide ticket sales of around $400 million, while other Star Wars films have grossed $1 billion or more at the box office.
• Film budgets do not include marketing costs, and studios share ticket revenues with theaters.
