Convicted in the March 26 Case filed a complaint with the ECHR

A participant in the protest action “He’s not Dimon for you,” Dmitry Krepkin, sentenced to a year and a half in prison for allegedly attacking a police officer, filed a complaint with the ECHR. Vedomosti reported this with reference to lawyer Ilnur Sharapov.

The complaint states that the court decisions in the case do not meet the requirements of a fair trial, and the term of imprisonment contradicts the requirements of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights.

On December 7, 2017, the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow found Krepkin guilty of using violence against a government official that is not dangerous to health (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code), and sentenced him to one and a half years in a general regime colony.

The court decided that at an anti-corruption rally on March 26, Krepkin kicked riot police officer Mikhail Zvonarev in the right thigh, causing him to “experience physical pain.” Krepkin himself claims that he did not hit the law enforcement officer, but hit the police baton. The accusation was based on a video, but the video was filmed from the back - it is difficult to say what exactly happened from it. Krepkin did not admit guilt.
