On June 9, the Prioksky District Court of Nizhny Novgorod fined a student of the Medical Academy from Zimbabwe for 30,000 rubles. This is reported by NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" with reference to the press secretary of the local church "Embassy of Jesus" Yulia Yermoshina.
An African student was found guilty of hidden missionary activity (part 5 of article 5.26) because of an interview that the girl gave to Yermoshina. In this interview, Yermoshina called the student a "hero of faith," which, according to experts, is a "hidden missionary title." At the meeting, the defense filed five motions, including the request for an independent examination, but the court rejected them.
According to Yermoshina, in February the court ruled to expel the student from Russia until June 30 for five years without the right to enter.
Probably, we are talking about Kuzai Nyamarebvu - wrote the Dozhd TV channel about her at the end of April. In winter, the court found her guilty of violating the regime of stay in Russia by a foreign citizen (part 2 of article 18.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Then the reason was the repost of a video from a concert of foreign students and members of the Majestic choir, who sang gospel in English and in one of the African languages.
The press service of the university informed the NN.ru portal that “this is not about one repost, but about a series of publications containing photo and video materials. The student urged to go to a particular church, talked about her personal experience of visiting it.”
According to the case file, the young people came to the country on student visas and were not invited "for the purpose of engaging in professional religious activities." The FSB officers concluded that the students carried out "missionary activities on behalf of a religious organization", without having documents confirming such authority.
