
At the age of 82, film director and political functionary Stanislav Govorukhin died. This is reported by Interfax.
According to the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, Govorukhin died in the Barvikha sanatorium near Moscow after a long serious illness. Meanwhile, the day before, an unofficial source in the circles of doctors argued that the functionary was hospitalized in the Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow.
Govorukhin was born in Berezniki, the current Perm Territory, in the family of the exiled Don Cossack. In 1958, he graduated from the Geological Department of Kazan University, but the next year he got on television in the capital of Tataria.
In the mid-1960s, Govorukhin graduated from the director's faculty of VGIK. Until 1987, he worked at the Odessa film studio, then switched to Mosfilm.
He shot several dozen game paintings, including Vertical (1967) and “Ten Negro” (1987). The 5-episode television movie "The meeting place cannot be changed" (1979) with Vladimir Vysotsky in the title role was very popular.
Govorukhin also himself played several roles in the cinema, in particular in the film by Kira Muratova "Among the Gray Stones" (1983) and in "Asce" Sergey Solovyov (1987).
In perestroika, Govorukhin began making documentary cinema dedicated to urgent political problems. Among these films - “You cannot live like that” (1990) and “Russia that we have lost” (1992).
In the same years, Govorukhin, who had not previously engaged in social activities and did not be in the CPSU, joined politics. He became one of the leaders of the Democratic Party of Russia. In 1993, he elected to the State Duma of the 1st convocation; Later he became a deputy of all subsequent six convocations of the lower house. Initially adhered to conservative views, idealized tsarist Russia. Then supported the Communist Party; Later - "Fatherland - all of Russia" Yuri Luzhkov and Evgeny Primakov.
In 2000, he ran for the post of President of Russia; According to official figures, scored 0.44 percent of the vote. After those elections, he stated: "Putin owes his victory for the slave psychology of the people: show him a new king - he votes for him."
However, in 2005, Govorukhin himself joined Putin's supporters and joined United Russia.
