Primorye: Orphans stopped a hunger strike because of housing
Former pupils of the orphanages of Primorye stopped an unlimited hunger strike near the building of the region’s administration. She was declared the day before due to housing problems. After the six orphans began the protest, the regional authorities invited them to move to the so-called hotel type hostel. Less than a day after the start of the strike, the lease agreement was concluded with all protesters.
“They offered a hostel where a common toilet, a common bathroom, a common kitchen. We refused this option because many have small children, this is unrealistic. We made it clear that we agreed to a hotel type hostel. We said that there were no such options,” said Anastasia Radzievskaya, a hunger strike.
The day before, employees of the local administration came to people. This morning, the temporary option, on which the participants in the action insisted, found officials. The cost of renting a room in a hostel will cost beneficiaries 3,000 rubles per month. This amount will be compensated by the regional budget within the framework of local law. Despite this, orphans will continue to achieve the apartments he had laid.
Earlier, the regional administration said that by the end of the year in Primorye it is planned to purchase about 300 apartments for orphans. And the plans for the coming years are the construction of 12 residential buildings for those who are in line.
In the Primorsky Territory, 7040 people are registered for housing, of which 5237 have the right to receive housing, as they have reached adulthood.
