Director Stanislav Govorukhin died at the 83rd year of his life, said the State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.
“At 10:37, in the sanatorium of Barvikh, after a serious and prolonged illness, he died, and Stanislav Sergeyevich Govorukhin passed away. He fought to the end with the disease, but she defeated him, ”said the chairman of the State Duma.
Yesterday there was an erroneous information about the death of the director. The representative of Govorukhin denied this, but it became known that Govorukhin was hospitalized in extremely serious condition.
Govorukhin was born in 1936, shot more than 20 films, including “The meeting place cannot be changed”, “Vertical” and “Voroshilov shooter”. He played about 30 roles in films and on television. According to the director himself, with the beginning of perestroika in 1985, he stopped "actively working in the cinema and joined in politics."
Govorukhin has been a deputy of the State Duma since 1993, and 2005, as a deputy of United Russia, headed the Committee of the Lower Chamber of Culture. In 2000, the director ran for the post of president of Russia and scored less than half a percent.
The director supported Vladimir Putin and, in particular, in 2012 he headed his national election headquarters.
In 2005, Govorukhin, like some other representatives of the intelligentsia, as well as athletes and scientists, signed an open letter about the verdict Mikhail Khodorkovsky, which denied the political subtext of the process and emphasized the justice of the sentence.
