The Meshchansky District Court arrested animal rights activist Yury Koretsky for eight days. This was reported to OVD-Info by Vera Stepanova.
The Koretskys were accused of holding a public event without approval (part 2 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) because of the action of animal rights activists that took place on June 14. However, the activist was detained even before the start of the rally, when he was just walking down the street.
Law enforcers told Koretsky that they were detaining him “on suspicion”. When the animal rights activist asked what exactly he was suspected of, the police replied: “We’ll explain later.”
UPD 21:56 Lawyer Olga Rozhkova told OVD-Info that someone had changed the password for the Koretsky page on VKontakte. In addition, unknown people hacked into his Telegram and Google mail accounts.
