1938 Execution of Anastasia Bitsenko

80 years ago, on June 16, 1938, Anastasia Bitsenko, an activist of the Russian revolutionary movement, a member of the Socialist-Revolutionary Party, was shot.

In 1905, she killed Adjutant General Viktor Sakharov, who brutally suppressed peasant unrest in the Saratov province. She was sentenced to death, which was commuted to indefinite hard labor. Released as a result of the February Revolution of 1917. From November 1917 to March 1918 he was a member of the Soviet delegation at the Brest-Litovsk peace talks.

In November 1918, Bitsenko was admitted to the Bolshevik Party on the recommendation of Yakov Sverdlov. Subsequently, she was in teaching, party and Soviet work.

Arrested in February 1938 on charges of belonging to a "SR terrorist organization". Sentenced by the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR to capital punishment and executed on the same day. Rehabilitated in 1961.
