"Continuous impact delivers tactical inconvenience to our opponents and increases strategic costs, forcing them to allocate resources for defense and limit attacks," the new strategic concept of cybercards says.

Another Pentagon document, published in May last year, allows you to use cyber attacks to prevent the launch of nuclear missiles.

According to the publication, changes in the defense strategy can lead to the escalation of conflicts with countries that are among the opponents in cyberspace - Russia, China and North Korea, as well as with all countries with nuclear weapons. According to NYT, the powers of the military were expanded without preliminary discussion of the issue in the White House.

Earlier, the Pentagon was mainly engaged in the reflection of attacks on American computer networks. Aggressive actions were rarely taken, in particular, with the opposition of the Internet activity of the Islamic State, including the recruiters of terrorists.
