Stanislav Cherchesov: "We are ready to restrain Salah, and we will do it"

The head coach of the Russian national football team Stanislav Cherchesov said that preparations for the match of the second round of the group stage of the World Cup against Egypt are on plan. The team has an understanding of how to act against an opponent in general and against the leader of the Egyptians Mohammed Salah in particular.

“Like before the first game, we play all the options. We still have time to make the right decision. We play with another team, with another tactics. It is important for us to play their qualities that are inconvenient for them. We will build on this,” Cherchesov quotes “Match TV” quoted.

Recall that the match with the Egyptians will play the owners of the 2018 World Cup on Tuesday in St. Petersburg. The game will begin at 21:00 Moscow time.

“It is clear that we are studying each team. Whatever it is called, there are players in which you pay attention to. Egypt is an even team, but it is Salah. We will play against the whole team, but Salah must be taken into account. There is an understanding of how to do this, we will do it on Tuesday,” the coach answered the question whether he was developing a special strategy against the formidable goleodor.

One of the journalists asked Cherchesov whether someone in the Russian national team was able to play the role of Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos, who “cut down” the Egyptian in the Champions League final by causing him an injury.

“Ramos, probably, did not do it on purpose. Football is a contact sport. In my understanding, no one deliberately injures the players tomorrow or yesterday. Such football players as Salah decorate the World Cup,” there was an answer.

“I believe in my team and my players. We are ready to do this, and we will do it,” Cherchesov said to the journalist who doubted the ability of Russians to neutralize the Egyptian striker, who "could not be kept either in England or in Europe."

The head coach of the Russian national team noted that his wards survived the starting success in the match against Saudi Arabia (5: 0), not succumbing to euphoria.

“We took three points, started from victory. It gave the Russians a positive charge. This is a pleasant story, but we have already forgotten it. I hope we will make a new story with Egypt,” Cherchesov summed up.
