LDPR nominated deputy Degtyarev for mayor of Moscow

The LDPR nominated State Duma deputy, head of the committee on physical culture and sports Mikhail Degtyarev as a candidate for the post of mayor of Moscow. The decision was announced at a conference of the Moscow branch of the party on Wednesday, June 20.

Degtyarev took part in the last mayoral elections, in 2013, and took the penultimate place, gaining 2.86% of the vote.

• Mikhail Degtyarev is 37 years old, he graduated from the Samara Aerospace University, in the State Duma - since 2011. Degtyarev is included in the US and EU sanctions list. Vladimir Zhirinovsky named him among those who could become the next leader of the Liberal Democratic Party.
• Elections of the mayor of Moscow will be held on a single voting day on 9 September. Documents have already been submitted to the Moscow City Election Commission by 16 people, including the current mayor Sergei Sobyanin, municipal deputy Ilya Yashin, politician Dmitry Gudkov and journalist Anton Krasovsky.
• To register, candidates must pass the so-called municipal filter - get at least one vote of municipal deputies in 110 districts of Moscow. Only United Russia, which supports Sobyanin, has a sufficient number of deputies.
