The Supreme Court of Russia overturned all court decisions to extend the preventive measure for amnestied Daniil Konstantinov, a nationalist accused of hooliganism. His father Ilya Konstantinov wrote about this on Facebook.
The leader of the Moscow Defense League movement, Daniil Konstantinov, was accused of murder. The prosecutor asked that he be sentenced to 10 years in prison, despite the fact that Konstantinov stated that at the time of the murder he was at a family feast, as evidenced by witness statements and photographs.
The court reclassified the charge against the nationalist as hooliganism (Part 1 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code) and found him guilty. He was sentenced to three years in prison and amnestied in accordance with the amnesty law dedicated to Constitution Day on December 12, 2014. Fearing further persecution by the state, Konstantinov left Russia.
