2016 Brexit referendum

Two years ago, on June 23, 2016, the British voted in a national referendum to leave the United Kingdom from the European Union. With a turnout of 72.2%, 51.9% of participants voted in favor of leaving the EU, while 48.1% voted against. Scotland and Northern Ireland spoke out in favor of remaining in the European Union, while the majority of the inhabitants of England and Wales supported Brexit.
