On Monday, the Egyptian team lost to the Saudi Arabia team (1: 2) in the match of the third round of the group stage of the tournament. Salah, noted by the goal, was called the best player in the meeting. However, he refused to accept this prize.
After the match of the first round against the Uruguay team (0: 1), the goalkeeper of the Egyptian national team Mohamed El-Shenavi refused the same prize. As the goalkeeper himself explained then, being a faithful Muslim, for religious reasons he simply could not afford to accept a gift from a company producing alcohol products.
After this incident, the International Football Federation (FIFA) decided to remove from the prize to the best player of the Match Logo and the name of the sponsor if the reward is awarded the Islamic player. However, the changes made did not change the solution of Salah.
