The court in Sevastopol extended the arrest of the accused of participating in Hizb ut-Tahrir

The Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol left under arrest a resident of the Balaklava district, Enver Seytosmanov, suspected of participation in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). Seytosmanov will remain in the pre-trial detention center until September 7. The meeting to extend the arrest was held behind closed doors.

According to the lawyer, during his imprisonment Seytosmanov developed health problems. Legostov will insist on providing medical assistance to the suspect.

Brothers Enver and Ernes Seytosmanov were detained on May 10 during searches in the village of Orlinoye, Balaklava district of Sevastopol. Later, Ernes was released, and a criminal case was opened against Enver under Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of a terrorist organization).

• The Seytosmanovs are cousins ​​of the defendant in the case of the Hizb ut-Tahrir cell in Crimea, Nuri Primov.
• In 2016, Primov, Saifullaev and Vaitov were sentenced to five years in a general regime colony on charges of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization. Zeytullayev was initially sentenced to seven years in prison, but after an appeal from the prosecutor’s office, the term was increased to 12 years in a maximum security colony, and then to 15 years .
• Hizb ut-Tahrir is recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia. Cases of terrorism have been opened in different regions of the country, while members of the organization’s cells are accused and sentenced to various terms in a maximum security colony only on the basis that they met in apartments, read religious literature and recruited new members.
