In St. Petersburg, the arrest of Mikhail Tsakunov, accused of violence against a policeman on May 5, was extended

The Dzerzhinsky District Court of St. Petersburg extended for 14 days the arrest of Mikhail Tsakunov, accused of using violence against a policeman (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code) on May 5. OVD-Info was informed about this by Valentina Dekhtyarenko, manager of the Human Rights Protection of Open Russia.

According to the investigation, Tsakunov hit the injured police officer Sukharukov A.A., who participated in his arrest, and with this blow knocked out Sukharukov's tooth. This is qualified as an action dangerous to the life and health of a police officer.

In June, the court dismissed a complaint against Tsakunov's arrest. Lawyer Pavel Yasman asked to transfer his client under house arrest and stated that the process was political. At the hearing, the court rejected the request to include photographs from the May 5 rally, which show that Tsakunov did not beat the policeman.

• On May 5, Tsakunov and his friends called a taxi and were about to leave for home after the rally, but they noticed how the police told the janitors to throw out a large inflatable duck, a protest sign since the “He is not Dimon to you” protest. Young people agreed with the janitors and took the duck. This was noticed by the police and began to detain young people.
• According to Tsakunov, at some point he saw the riot police running at him. He wanted to give way to them, turned away for a moment and immediately fell. After that, the officers beat the man and dragged him to the paddy wagon along the asphalt. There were marks of beatings on his body.
• First, a protocol was drawn up against Tsakunov on violation of the procedure for holding the action (Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). But later there appeared a line stating that during the arrest he knocked out a tooth to a police officer.
• OVD-Info published an interview with German Paranichev, one of Tsakunov's lawyers, who spoke about his client and his case.
