Ministry of Justice: Radio Liberty was the only foreign agent media outlet to provide financial statements

Radio Liberty, recognized in Russia as a foreign agent by the media, has provided the necessary financial statements. This is reported by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.

The department said that other media recognized as foreign agents did not provide reporting, they will be "taken response measures," Interfax reports.

The day before, the court fined the radio station 100,000 rubles for not submitting these documents on time. On "Svoboda" they said that they could not fulfill the requirements of the Ministry of Justice due to bureaucratic obstacles.

• The law on media-foreign agents has been in force in Russia since November 2017. The Ministry of Justice has the right to request the financial statements of organizations included in the relevant register. The law was adopted after the recognition of the RT channel as a foreign agent in the United States.
• In addition to Radio Liberty, the sister channel Current Time and regional news sites, as well as Voice of America, were recognized as foreign agents.
