OPCW: Chlorine gas used in attack in Syria's Douma
A preliminary report by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons has concluded that chlorine was used in the April 2018 attack in the Syrian city of Douma .
“The results [of the analysis] showed no traces of nerve agents or their degradation products in environmental samples or blood plasma collected from the suspected victims,” the document says. “However, chlorinated organic compounds were detected in samples collected at two locations.”
- Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Russian officials have repeatedly expressed doubt that the chemical attack actually took place and called video evidence of it a staged attack.
