Members of the Public Monitoring Committee found Dmitry Pchelintsev, a person involved in the “Network” case, in the temporary detention center of St. Petersburg

Members of the Public Monitoring Committee Ekaterina Kosarevskaya and Yana Teplitskaya discovered Dmitry Pchelintsev, a defendant in the case of the terrorist community “Network,” in the temporary detention center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. On July 4, Anna, Pchelintsev’s sister, told OVD-Info that her brother was not in the Penza pre-trial detention center - she was informed about this when she came to hand him over. According to the head of the detention center, the FSIN handed Pchelintsev over to the FSB investigative team to carry out investigative actions in accordance with the documents presented by the investigator. The FSIN officer refused to explain where exactly the accused was being transported.

Anna also noted that the latest court order to extend the period of detention of her brother mentions investigative actions that should take place in St. Petersburg.

Kosarevskaya told Mediazona that Pchelintsev has no complaints about the conditions in the temporary detention facility. According to her, he is “surprised that this happens - that prisoners are fed normal food.” The accused also told members of the PMC that before the convoy he had poisoned himself and, on the orders of the doctor, was on bed rest.

After the call, he was taken to a doctor, given paracetamol and told that he was completely healthy. Then he was driven in a minivan for 24 hours by FSB operatives. They fed him on the way.

She also noted that Pchelintsev did not complain about pressure from the operatives. According to her, they are “trying to appease” the accused.

Mediazona writes that Pchelintsev was able to tell the temporary detention center staff about his state of health and chronic diseases. They promised to transfer this data to the convoy.

The day before, it became known about the detention and arrest of two defendants in the “Network” case, Mikhail Kulkov and Maxim Ivankin. Alexey Kulkov, Mikhail’s father, told OVD-Info that his son and Ivankin are accused of organizing a terrorist community.

The man added that he noticed their bruises and abrasions when he saw his son and Ivankin at the trial for several minutes as they were led down the corridor.

• Anti-fascists Dmitry Pchelintsev, Vasily Kuksov, Ilya Shakursky, as well as Yegor Zorin and Andrei Chernov were detained in Penza in October 2017. They are accused of participating in a terrorist organization called “Network” (Part 2 of Article 205.4 of the Criminal Code), which allegedly has cells in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Penza and Belarus.
• Those involved in the “Network” case talked about psychological pressure, electric shock torture and weapons that FSB officers planted on them. Some defendants refused to confess and reported that they had given them under torture.
• In addition to the six accused who are being held in Penza, three more people are being held in custody in St. Petersburg in the case of involvement in the Network. These are Viktor Filinkov and Igor Shishkin, in whom human rights activists found signs of torture. Yuli Boyarshinov, who was initially accused of illegal possession of explosives, is also in St. Petersburg. Later, he was demanded to testify against the defendants in the Network case and the same charges were brought against him.
• Pchelintsev twice reported torture. After his first statement on February 10, 2018, according to him , FSB officers came to him and subjected him to further torture. Because of this, he was forced to retract his first statement and say that he had made up the torture story. In May, he spoke about this and again refused to admit guilt.
