"Progress MS-09" was attached to the ISS, for the first time they reached the station according to the ultra-short scheme

The freight ship "Progress MS-09" was attached to the International Space Station (ISS), for the first time in history, having arrived at it according to the ultra-short scheme. The flight lasted less than four hours, TASS reports with reference to the Russian Flight Management Center (TsUP).

The Progress MS -09 Progress Fill with the orbital station occurred automatically at 04:31 Moscow time, ”the TsUP said, specifying that the truck moored to the docking of Pierce.

The Soyuz-2.1a missile with the ship progress MS-09 started from the site number 31 of the Baikonur Cosmodrome at 00:51 Moscow time. Nine minutes later, the ship regularly separated from the third stage of the carrier and continued an independent flight to the ISS.

The ship delivered about 2.5 tons of various cargoes to the station, in particular fuel, scientific equipment, products, medicines. In addition, the Progress brought to the ISS the third generation of the new generation "Orlan-MKS", two such spaces are already used at the station.

Following the super -short -legged flight scheme, the spacecraft made two turns around the ground. Previously, the “progresses” were sent to the ISS either according to a two -day scheme (34 turns), or reached the station in six hours (four turns).

The new short flight scheme for the ISS was supposed to be worked out for the first time on the progress MS-07 on October 12, 2017 on the progress cargo ship. However, the launch did not take place due to the fact that the automation of the starting complex on Baikonur canceled the launch, and the ship went into space on October 14 according to a two-day scheme.

A similar situation arose when launching “MS-08” progress: initially it was planned to be sent to space on February 11, 2018, but a few seconds before the start the automatic system canceled the operation. As a result, the ship started on February 13, and attached to the ISS on February 15.
