
In the Azerbaijani city of Ganja, two high -ranking policemen died during the dispersal of a spontaneous rally. Local residents gathered at the building of the city administration, demanding the liberation of the 35-year-old Yunis Safarov, detained for attempt on the head of the city of Elmar Veliev. The attack was committed on July 3 by the administration building. Veliev and his guard are hospitalized with fiery wounds.

According to the official message, 40 people were detained, the order in the city center was restored in half an hour. Participants in the protest in the message are called a "radical religious group of 150-200 people."

The attempt on Veliev is recognized as a terrorist attack. The authorities announced that Safarov was an Islamist who fought in Syria. In total, 12 people were detained in the case.
